Editorial & Data Standards

These standards apply to every platform operated by Index Digital Systems. They exist so readers know exactly how our content and data are produced, sourced and corrected.

Our seven standards

  1. Original work, curation and summaries

Our content is a mix: original reporting and data analysis, AI-assisted writing, and summaries that cluster and condense reporting from multiple sources. We never republish other publishers' articles verbatim. Summaries are written in our own words, clearly identified as summaries, and link to every source they draw on. Our tools, calculators, and our stock and currency analysis are original work built in-house.

  2. Sourcing and verification

We use primary and authoritative sources wherever possible — for example the Central Bank of Kenya (currency), the Nairobi Securities Exchange (markets), official mobile-money operators (tariffs and features), and the Communications Authority of Kenya and official stations (broadcast). Data is verified before publication. Time-sensitive data carries a visible "last updated" timestamp.

  3. Higher standard for money topics

Content covering markets, currency and mobile money can affect people's money and decisions. For this work we apply a higher standard: named editors with relevant knowledge, explicit sourcing, dated data, and clear disclaimers. Our finance content is for information and education only and is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice. Always verify current rates and charges directly with the relevant provider, and consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.

  4. Use of artificial intelligence

We use AI to assist with research and drafting, and to cluster and summarise reporting from multiple sources into a single overview. AI-generated summaries are labelled as such and linked to their sources. All published content is reviewed and approved by a named human editor accountable for its accuracy — we do not publish unreviewed, auto-generated content, and we do not attach fabricated first-person experience to any byline. Read more on How We Use AI & Sources.

  5. Independence and how we make money

Our platforms are supported primarily by advertising (including Google AdSense) and may include clearly labelled affiliate or sponsored content. Commercial relationships never influence our editorial judgement, our data, or our corrections.

  6. Corrections

We correct mistakes promptly and openly, adding a correction note for significant factual errors. To report one, see Corrections & Feedback or email corrections@ids.co.ke.

  7. Review

We review these standards periodically and update this page accordingly. Last reviewed: 20 June 2026
